Acquired in 2003 as a sale and lease back from Sigma Cast

The existing foundry comprises of 210,000 sq ft of manufacturing and ancillary offices and until June 2009 was occupied by Sigmacast.

Approach

The site was purchased with a view to managing the lease for an interim period whilst seeking to promote a regeneration opportunity for residential development.

Status

An Outline Planning Application was submitted to Sandwell Borough Council in May 2009 for up to 121 residential dwellings and this was subsequently approved in August 2009.

Following vacation of the site by the tenant in June 2009, demolition commenced. These works are expected to complete by the end of September 2009.
