The Red Harrows complete Trailwalker 2012!
After six months of hard training across Cheshire and the Peak District, as well as a 'boot camp' with the Gurkhas, three colleagues from Harrow Estates plc - Mark Nicholls, Martin Roberts and Lee Wood along with his girlfriend Polly Wilding, have just completed the Oxfam Trailwalker as a team “The Red Harrows” – the only team registered for the event from Cheshire.

The Oxfam Trailwalker is a 100km endurance trek along the South Downs from Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield, to Brighton and has to be completed in under 30 hours with an ascent similar to climbing Snowdon and Ben Nevis together.

Setting off at 8am on Saturday 14th July, they were one of over 500 teams taking part in the event to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. They were supported along the route by Mark’s wife Kate Nicholls, Martin’s son Ted Roberts and colleague Simon Brooks.

After walking through the night and enduring atrocious weather conditions, they arrived in Brighton exhausted at 8:32am with a team time of 24hours 32minutes. So far the team have raised over £4,800 for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust with the overall event expected to raise over £1 million. The team are now recovering from their blisters, sore feet and aching legs!
