Stone - Staffordshire

This 9 acre site occupied by Fairey Industrial Ceramics (part of Rolls Royce) was acquired unconditionally with a leaseback on flexible terms.

The site was originally allocated for employment purposes and was partially affected by a licensed landfill. The Harrow team undertook a series of detailed planning and technical assessments including close liaison with the Environment Agency in respect of the landfill.

Harrow’s plans for up to 200 homes were rejected by the local planning authority but succeeded at a subsequent appeal. Following planning success further works included:

• Vacant possession by agreement.
• Asbestos removal and demolition undertaken over a six month period.
• Remedial works to the landfill including removal of hydrocarbon impacted material.
• Design of significant highway works onto the busy A34.
• The site was sold and subsequent successfully developed by Miller Homes.
