Former prison site secured in Essex

Harrow Estates has recently contracted to purchase a former prison known as HMP Bullwood Hall in Rochford via Jones Lang Lasalle acting as agents for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). 

The prison was decommissioned by the MoJ and closed in March 2013 as part the Government’s wider modernisation programme to improve the operational efficiency of the prison estate.  The existing prison buildings are therefore no longer required for their former use and the site is redundant. 

Opportunities for the site’s redevelopment are now being explored by Harrow Estates and will commence with baseline surveys to inform discussions with the local community and local planning authority.
